Arlington Heights, Illinois

Located in Cook County, Arlington Heights is known as a municipality and is a suburb of Chicago. With a population of approximately 76,000 people, Arlington Heights is well-known for its race track. The History of Arlington Heights

The General Land Office started selling land in Arlington Heights in 1835. In 1853, the Illinois and Wisconsin Railroad stopped in the area for the first time. By the 1850s many German farmers arrived in the area and they helped the local economy by sending vegetables and dairy products to Chicago by train. Arlington Heights was incorporated in 1887 when there were approximately 1,000 people living in the area. The population is now 52 times larger than it was back in 1890.
